Grammy-nominated country singer-songwriter CAM heads to the Academy this month as part of her huge summer European tour. With a show-stopping voice and a tendency for that classic Nashville storytelling CAM is certainly one to watch. This intimate gig should be fantastic.
The Flaming Lips | 6th Sept | Manchester Academy
Alternative rock outfit from Oklahoma City founded by the eclectic Wayne Coyne. The Lips are renowned for their spectacular, eccentric live shows, which include elaborate costumes, puppets, confetti and Wayne Coyne’s man-sized plastic bubble in which he walks over the top of the audience. Run of UK shows to celebrate ‘The Soft Bulletins’ 10th anniversary, only playing Edinburg. London and Manchester. The Academy show is a huge sell out so keep your eyes on Twickets for any resale. Four-piece Skinny Living from Wakefield have slowly been building a reputation as a formidable live band in the UK since their inception in 2013. They will perform at Manchester Academy 3 this month, if you haven’t heard them before now is your chance to check them out. The band is made up of four guys. Pixies are on a huge UK tour this month; the tour coincides with the release of the band’s new album – the follow up to 2016’s acclaimed ‘Head Carrier’. Pale Waves | 27th Sept | Manchester Academy
Kicking off their UK tour in Glasgow this month, and then finishing up on the 27th with their homecoming at the Academy. The band released their debut album ‘My Mind Makes Noises’ in autumn last year, reaching No.8 in the UK Album charts.
