The Eagle Inn’s 10th Birthday

This Saturday The Eagle Inn is hosting a FREE all-day party to celebrate 10 years of the pub being in the hands of landlady, Esther Maylor. Starting at 3pm, you’ll see performances from Sugarstone, Dakota Avenue, The Skive and Tigerside, alongside some late-night DJ’s. Julie Campbell AKA Lonelady is a true electronic-pop pioneer. Her groove-stricken music is a nod to bands of the 80s including Yazoo, Pink Rhythm and The System, who blend rare disco with punchy synth rhythms to create music that truly makes you move. Her live performance is also captivating, as her industrial-esque sound is played out across various instruments including, guitars, drum machines and stacked synths, depicting DIY Manc heritage and its industrial past.

Skunk Anansie at Victoria Warehouse

Fronted by the legendary, Skin, Skunk Anansie have had a career that’s taken them across the world, performing to sold-out stadium size crowds full of head-banging, rock loving fans. The band have been active since the mid 90s, and are still a ferocious, energetic outlet to see live – an amalgamation of heavy mental and black feminist rage.
DRS at Gorilla

Previously one-third of the UK Hip Hop trio, Broke ‘n’ £nglish, DRS has taken his music to the furthest corners of the British rap scene, transcending genres and giving a voice to underrepresented groups. A true Manchester icon, his show at Gorilla is eagerly anticipated and definitely not one to be missed.
Witch Fever at Night & Day Cafe

Rising from the depths of punk’s true hell, Witch Fever are a feminist four-piece from Manchester with enough ferocity to upper-cut the patriarchy. Their music takes no prisoners, and is a blend of organic punk angst, featuring dirty licks and raw, confrontational vocals.

Lily Moore at The Deaf Institute

Armed with a set of pipes similar to Adele and Amy Winehouse, Lily Moore’s music is raw and brutally honest, covering love and loss through stripped back acoustic performances and tear-jerking lyrics, which are authentically her own. The singer is the daughter of rock-star royalty and Thin Lizzy guitarist, Gary Moore and has caught the eye of many a music critic, appearing on Top of the Pops, MTV and BBC Radio 1.
Mantaraybryn at Gullivers

Marrying intimate lyrics and computerised melodies, Mantaraybryn released his first album back in 2016, which explored the realms of synth-led sounds and indie-pop vocals. His on-stage performance is minimal in that he’s joined by no one other than himself, demonstrating his impeccable talent as a musician.

This genre-spanning evening will feature Ellen Beth Abdi, Kemani Anderson and Berry Blacc – three Manchester-based artists who are putting their own spin on their own unique sounds, drawing influences from 80s electronica, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz and funk. Konny Kon (Children of Zeus) will also be taking over the bar as DJ for the evening.
Piri and Tommy at The White Hotel

Piri, aka Sophie McBurnie & Tommy Villers found love on Instagram and, subsequently, their avid fan base on TikTok. During lockdown, the couple formed a cosy social bubble, where they began experimenting with drum and bass sounds, as well as dance and electronic with a refreshing sprinkle of their envious Gen Z youth. The result is a colourful, new-age take on a DIY dance-pop scene that you’ll desperately want to hear more of.

Reflective and euphoric, Still Corners’ music takes you on a journey – the kind that’s doused in sunshine as you hang your arm out of the car window, feeling the gentle breeze and neglecting any prior worries.
