Having just announced that it will open this year’s Glastonbury Festival main stage, Hacienda Classical will be back in Manchester at the end of November for its homecoming end of year concert at the city’s legendary O2 Apollo.
With the fully sold out returns to the Royal Albert Hall and Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl taking place over coming weeks Hacienda Classical has a busy summer of dates across the UK and festival and the Apollo date is set to be a special affair, as the concert comes back to its hometown to round up the year’s run of gigs.
Tickets go on general sale for the O2 Apollo Manchester concert this Friday 12th May from 9am here.
Haçienda Classical sees FAC 51’s original DJ partnership Graeme Park and Mike Pickering reinterpret the seminal dance classics which shaped the original club alongside Manchester Camerata, conductor Tim Crooks and guests. The show has returned in 2017 with a new set arranged for the concerts adding a range of new tracks whilst retaining some of the audience favourites from last year’s spectacular concerts.
At the two concerts so far in 2017, reactions at the concerts have remained as euphoric as last year as the performers, orchestra and crowd combine creating an electric atmosphereat both of the debut performances in April.
Critically, the reviews have been equally enthusiastic with the Yorkshire Evening Post commented on the Leeds show, calling it ” two hours of sheer enjoyment for the head, heart and feet, this is a show that’s hard to beat,” while Contact Music hailed it as “a total success”.
Here’s Graeme Park commenting on the reaction to his and Mike Pickering’s new set:
“Mike and I are absolutely thrilled at the response to the new Haçienda Classical 2017 show. The months of hard work behind the scenes has certainly paid off and the reactions have been fantastic. Everything we learned on last year’s roller-coaster journey has been applied to the new show to make the whole experience even more of an inspirational blast. As we finish up the year at the Apollo, it’ll be an incredible atmosphere.”
As The Haçienda’s dance heritage has collided with the world of classical music, the concerts have been phenomenal and the support for the “rave meets recital” music clash of worlds has been extraordinary, far outstripping any expectations.
