The Legendary DJ Paulette Crafts us a Bespoke Spotify Playlist

We love Paulette here at the Finest Office. She’s a good girl and ridiculously talented when it comes to her art. That and she has a fantastically eclectic taste in music which we want to listen to in the office pretty much all day.

In a career currently spanning more than two decades and three countries – Paulette has been a resident at some of the biggest and best clubs in the world, with residencies in prestigious clubs including the Hacienda here in Manchester, Queen Club, Mix Club, Cocoon (Frankfurt), Ibiza Rocks at Pikes Hotel.

She has supported the creme de la creme of the DJ establishment – from Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, David Guetta, Laidback Luke, SHM, Afrojack, Bob Sinclar, Didier Sinclair, Fafa Monteco to Duke Dumont, Jaymo & Andy George, Junior Sanchez, Artwork, Moodymanc and Mr Scruff.

After a career that has seen Paulette in every corner of the globe, she is now a resident again in her hometown of Manchester and you will see her name frequently on posters across town- from Saturday nights at Tariff & Dale to late night sessions down at La Discotheque.

Not only is Paulette one of the best DJ’s in town- she is a fantastic person too. So, when we drunkenly asked her to make a playlist of us when we were pestering her one Saturday night she was happy to get involved. She came up with a cracking concept too- DJ Paulette’s 20 Alarm Calls- AKA songs to get you out of bed in the morning.

She explained the concept to me and said:

“I work a lot of late nights into early mornings and early nights at any time of the day I care to work to. This means that my sleep is at a premium and can happen at any time of the day or night depending on whether I need a nap or a full-on coma. The intensity of the alarm (on my phone) is governed by the urgency of the wake-up – short sleep / early session – Ante UP! Early night, long sleep – Yaw ‘Where Would You Be’ or Solange ‘Cranes In The Sky’. I think you get the picture.”

She continues…

“So … If my selection of actual, tried and tested, ‘wake up guaranteed’ alarm calls don’t make you leap out of bed, into the shower, leap out of the shower, into your clothes whilst dancing around your bedroom in your knickers and lip-synching into your hairbrush then you need defibrillating now. For real. These are the best wake up tunes ever. I know. I use them every week.”

We’ve all been listening to it on repeat for two days solid and I think it is safe to say that we are all a bit more chipper in the mornings after a wake up to these expertly curated tunes. Get involved!
