The Manchester Caribbean Carnival takes place in Alexandra Park on the 11th and 12th August and will feature a selection of some of Manchester’s most serious sound systems, barbecue cookouts and best of all a fair, sick.
Things will be kickin’ off pretty early on Saturday morning with a parade taking place in Hulme and Moss Side, getting going around 9am. It’s definitely worth sacking off that lie-in you have planned and taking it easy on Friday night if you really wanna enjoy the full day, you’ll be hammered on Rum Slushies by lunch time anyway.
If it’s anything like recent years, which I’m sure it will be, you’ll spend most of the day wandering from stage to stage bumping into people you haven’t seen for ages, noshing on some Jerk Chicken and having a dead nice time enjoying the vibes and community spirit which are pretty unique to this event, no bad attitudes just peace and love, its mint.

The Legacy Radio stage is always one to check out but the below, hosted by NTS Radio and Carhartt, looks like one definitely worth reppin’, there’ll be loads of stuff going on, you just need to get down.
So, it all wraps up in the park at 8pm (ish), then it’s on to either one of the many street parties you’ll stumble upon as you walk back through Moss Side or you can hit up one of the venues who will be hosting DJ’s and live acts until the early hours.
Hit & Run have a big doo on at 256 in Fallowfield, Walrus and Tusk have a Dancehall and Bashment night on in NQ and Rebellion has DU-KH bringing you deep and soulful afro house, whatever that is.
