Manchester Folk Festival, produced by the English Folk Expo (EFEx) team, is set to bring the Northern Quarter to life between 19 – 21 October with live contemporary folk performances at venues like Band on the Wall, New Century Hall, Hallé St Peters, Night and Day, Hallé at St Michaels, SOUP, Matt and Phred’s, Castle Hotel, and The Stoller Hall. Festival wristband holders can enjoy a rolling program across all the participating venues, dipping in and out of concerts, sessions, and events for three days of the very best in English Folk and Acoustic music.
This year’s lineup features artists such as Maddy Prior & Forgotten Lands, Oysterband, Noble Jacks, Hack-Poets Guild, John Smith, Will Pound & Jenn Butterworth, Merry Hell, Simeon Hammond Dallas, Blackbeard’s Tea Party, Suntou Susso, Granny’s Attic, Ranagri, Bonfire Radicals, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Sam Lee, Lady Nade, Ward Knútur Townes, Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet, Martin Carthy & Jon Wilks, Bryony Griffith & Alice Jones, Iona Lane, Rosie Hood Band, and Philippa Zawe.
New for 2023, the festival introduces international showcases, bringing in fresh music from around the globe. Additionally, more sessions and workshops will be incorporated into the program alongside the traditional Singaround. Band on the Wall, the festival’s new hub and late-night club, will feature the best emerging folk-influenced artists.
