Born in Bedford but based in London, singer-songwriter Tom Grennan first found fame as the guest vocalist on Chase & Status’s track ‘When It All Goes Wrong’. Neighbourhood Festival’s second year running, the festival takes over oxford road right up to the Albert Hall, the line-up this year features Peace, Rat Boy, Black Honey, Cabbage and last week the multi venue festy announced a new wave of acts, including Idles, Queen Zee & The Sasstones. Also, the Stockport outfit Blossoms will play at an exclusive party celebrating the start of the one-day Manchester Festival. Blossoms special stripped-back acoustic set will be performed at Manchester’s Metropolitan University students union. Annie Mac Presents | 6 & 7 October | Store Street
Showing her versatility, Annie Mac takes over the Warehouse Project for 2 nights with a varaity of dance music. The event is headlined by some of the biggest names in underground dance. Part 1 (Friday) she will be joined by Redlight, Toddla TW, Stefflon Don, and Part 2 (Saturday) she will be joined by Dusky, Heidi, Midland and more. Slowdive | 10 October | Albert Hall
Slowdive are an English rock band that formed in Reading, Berkshire in 1989. Slowdive continue an extraordinary year that has seen the band receive global critical acclaim for their new self titkes alnum by announcing an autumn tour of the UK and Europe. The announcement follows the band’s sell out north America tour and their very first live dates in south America. Slowdive released their new album on 5th May, their first for 22 years, earning them their first UK top 20 album position! Slowdive will be playing the Albert Hall on Tuesday 10th October. Loyle Carner | 12 October | Ritz
Loyle Carner is back in Manchester! This time he plays a slightly bigger venue from the Academy. Benjamin Gerard Coyle-Larner, better known by the stage name Loyle Carner, is an English hip hop musician and actor. His sound has been described by NME as ‘sensitive and eloquent’ and by The Guardian as ‘confessional hip-hop’.
Toothless | 13 October | Gorilla
Bombay Bicycle Club bassist Ed Nash goes it alone with his new project Toothless. Nash has already released two singles of dreamy folk-pop ‘Terra’ and Palm’s Backside’ and a full-length album ‘The Pace Of The Passing. Dizzee Rascal | 14 October | Academy
Rapper Dizzee Rascal plays 14 headline dates across the country in support of soon to be released sixth album Raskit kicking things off in Liverpool on 2nd October and then a big night at Manchester’s Academy on 14 October. The East Londoner, born Dylan Mills, burst onto the scene in 2003 with him mercury Prize winning debut album ‘Boy In Da Corner’, with featured singles ‘I Luv U’, ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ and ‘Jus’ A Rascal’ He headlined Electric Fields and V festival this year, he is back in the game, get your tickets here.
Beth Ditto | 17 October | Albert Hall
She sold out Gorilla in seconds so they moved the gig to the Albert Hall where it also sold out straight away. Beth Ditto is undoubtedly one of the most powerful musicians / inspirational from the noughties; in 2006 the Gossip released ‘Standing in the way of control’ Beth’s return has been a long time coming, with ‘EP’ being released way back in 2011. Pigeon Detectives | 19 October | Academy
The Pigeon Detectives are on tour celebrating a decade since the release of the Leeds band’s debut album ‘Wait For Me’, which went platinum in the UK. The Leeds five piece hit the road this month and play a gig at Manchester’s Academy on 19th October. Tickets still available:
London Grammar | 17 & 20 October | Apollo
London Grammar’s Trio Dan, Hannah and Dominic have recently added more dates onto their UK Autumn tour and are now playing 2 nights at Manchester’s Apollo the tour supports their recent release of their second album ‘Truth Is A Beautiful Thing’. Kaleo, the four piece band from Iceland who now call the US home are a gorgeous and raucous blend of rock, folk and blues. The band’s debut album A/B showcases their multi-layered talent. The quartet + special guests play a gig at the Apollo later in the month.
