Manchester SVMI

Music videos have seen a resurgence in the last decade. Increasingly accessible (and in many cases pocketable) HD cameras are everywhere, offering ideal tools for creatives to develop DIY clips. Not least in the UK grime and drill scenes. As such it was only a matter of time before someone stepped out from behind the lens and picked up a mic.

SVMI is currently riding a substantial wave that shows little sign of breaking soon. Having surrounded himself with rappers and songwriters for years, during which time he produced clips for the likes of Izzie Gibbs and Aitch, it took a friend, WhyJay, to encourage him to start rhyming himself.

That was two years ago, and things have progressed since with help from another long-time collaborator, producer LiTek. Now Friday 25th June sees SVMI unveil his new seven-tracker, ‘MA Mood’, which confirms his status as a musician on the rise, and adds another string to a bow that was hardly lacking in the first place.

The full package comes courtesy of NQ Records, and imprint established around last decade’s mid-point that has subsequently grown into a full-service artist management agency. Something Manchester, and the UK regions in general, need more of.

A homespun, homegrown success story in the making, check out SVMI’s impressive listening wares below, including the videos to ‘P.O.P. (Hold It Down)’, around which the full release was built, and latest offering ‘Feel Alike’, and dive into the full mini-album below.
