It’s the biggest day in the folded pizza calendar. Yes that’s right, today is National Calzone Day. And to mark this prestigious occasion, the top eight UK pizza spots have been announced – with one Manchester establishment coming out on top.
Double Zero Neapolitan Pizza in Chorlton has been ranked number one in the country, beating competition from pizzerias in London, Glasgow and Belfast.

The South Manchester institution first opened on Barlow Moor Road in 2015 and has been slinging out some of the best slices in the city ever since.
Double Zero’s dough is made fresh daily and stretched by hand before being cooked in their authentic wood-fired oven, which they shipped from Naples to get the true taste of proper Italian pizza.

The research, conducted by Betway, measured each restaurant’s unique index score, generated by the number of hashtags each location has racked up on Instagram, as well as Google and Tripadvisor reviews.
Double Zero achieved a total index score of 4, with London’s Pizza Union in second place followed by Amore Ristorante e Pizzeria in Glasgow in third spot.
