“Let the sins begin” say the team at one of the Northern Quarter’s best basement bars for interactive entertainment. Better yet, customers aren’t restricted to the darkened depths, either, with outdoor seating available overlooking the area’s most popular nightlife destination. Occupying a prime spot on the west side of Stephenson Square, 7 Sins couldn’t be better placed if it tried.

Come here on a sunny afternoon and the abundant tables and chairs outside will be packed with people soaking up rays and the tangible atmosphere of the area. Meanwhile, after dark and during cooler times of the year all the action takes place inside, and downstairs. Once through that door, the retro-futurist aesthetic will be the first thing to hit home, with neon purple and pink strip lights, graffiti, and games machines, spread out over the ground and basement floor. Alongside a range of classic arcade games, punters will find shuffleboard and pool tables, darts, beer pong and more, making this an ideal spot for groups and parties looking to flex some muscle and show off their skills while indulging in food and drink.

Both of which are at 7 Sins in big numbers. The Fried Greatness is perhaps the biggest selling point of the menu — probably the city’s biggest choice of fries, which include the Tineage Dirtbag (with melted cheese and red wine gravy), and Bacon the Law (melted cheese and crispy bacon). Puns continue elsewhere, with pizzas like the Pepper-Only One I Know, Lightning Balt, and Meat Me Halfway, while burgers boast names like Phil Me In (minced steak, buttered onions, peppers, cheese, mustard) and the Doggy Style hotdog. Happy hour runs daily until 7PM, with two-for-one cocktails, select pints under £4, and half price gaming, although at any time the choice of beers, ales, wines and spirits is impressive.
