Central Manchester’s coffee game has been making big moves on an international level, but standards across the city-region are impeccably high these days, too. Bloom Coffee Co, in Bury town centre, not far from the Metrolink, is a case in point. “A space for people to enjoy great coffee and brunch”, the team put it, with typical understatement. Suffice to say, this is a place that prefers to let the quality of what it does do the talking. N-amely fresh produce & carefully selected suppliers are used to make amazing drinks & meals.
So there’s a notable leaning towards seasonality, which is always a good thing. Inspired, to some extent, by the types of establishment that caused a mini-revolution in Australian cafe culture after the millennium, dishes are described as “easy to get on board with”. Examples of popular choices include the wonderfully-named bloom shrooms (creamy garlic and thyme mushrooms), seasonal French toast, Turkish eggs, which come with an Anatolian kick to them, alongside more traditional British and American classics. So think eggs benedict exactly as it should be, and full English breakfasts with top quality bits. Gluten free options are available.
Spread over two floors, with seating for 60, it should go without saying that Bloom Coffee Co does world class coffee. Allpress is the house espresso blend, and a rotation of guest roasters mean a constantly changing grinder offering, with V60, Chemex and AeroPress filters all used. Alternative drinks including chai, turmeric & matcha, come from Blendsmiths, while experts at Atkinsons provide a range of loose leafs. Fittingly, there’s also a great choice of cakes, all homemade, to go with those brews. Known for friendly and attentive service, and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, you’ll find doors are open daily Monday to Sunday, except for Tuesdays.
