It’s impressive that any catering or hospitality venture made it through the pandemic in one piece — and a clear sign that business is doing something right. But for those that were born amid the lockdowns, eat out schemes and industry-wide uncertainty, this is particularly true. Enter Codi’s Kitchen, a pan-Asian and sushi eatery, and the brainchild of globetrotting, food-loving Codi Sheldon, an epicurean who saw a clear gap in the local market and dove in two feet first. Skip forward to today, and the name has firmly established itself among finer diners in Prestwich, an area that’s not exactly short on places for people to fill their boots.

Originally offering a cold takeaway-only service run from a family member’s home, which customers would then warm up at their own leisure, demand quickly grew alongside word of mouth recommendations. Private dining experiences came next, with large events including weddings, birthdays, Bar Mitzvahs and more all catered, before a decision was made to offer a chance to eat-in and the current address on Heywood Road was secured. With no time to look back, the site opened in May 2022 and has been a huge success since then, with the team growing from two to significantly more staff as a result of both loyal and visiting customers, all drawn here by the colourful, flavourful dishes on the plate.

The Bang Bang Cauliflower is one example, which Codi herself describes as achieving “cult” status among locals. Elsewhere, rice accompanies Katsu, Teriyaki, Firecracker, Salt & Pepper, Korean, Miso, and Broth sections of the menu, most of which offer at least two meats and a vegan option, or fish. Meanwhile, the handmade maki, nigiri, and sashimi rolls are another big highlight. Poke Bowls, Bao Buns, and an impressive choice of Small Stuff (running from Tuna Tataki to Mushroom Gyoza) are available to start. Codi’s Kitchen is also the home of Wok In A Box, allowing customers to build their own dish from a selection of Protein, Veg, Carb and Sauce every afternoon, which they can either eat-in or collect and takeaway for £10.
