It’s fitting that IDAHO has expanded from its single Altrincham site to a second at the regenerated Stanley Square. The business’ move mirrors the rise of Sale as a destination for shopping, drinking and dining in its own right, with the town following in the footsteps of its bigger neighbour, a few miles further south on the Metrolink. One of Greater Manchester’s best examples of a centre reborn for the 2020s, this corner of the metropolis is now home to some of our favourite names from the region’s food and drink scene. And you’ll also find a good number of independent shops have followed suit.

“Expect Baggu Reusable bags, HAY glassware, Meurisse Chocolate — the first Belgium chocolatiers, which started in 1845 and is still family run, Slowdown Studio tapestries, Alma frames, Ceramic Room vases, Chunks hair claws, Meraki hand soap, Earl of East candles, Kaweco fountain pens, Dusen Dusen cushions, Le Bon Shoppe socks, Bloma Jewellery, and so much more,” the team behind IDAHO proudly explain. So whether you’re looking for handbags, a Father’s Day present, socks or Christmas ideas, this should be a priority destination.

There are skincare and beauty products, jigsaws and games, or to put that another way, something for anyone and every occasion made by small independent companies. Standards are high, whether that’s 100% vegan and cruelty free eau de parfum by CRAY-ON or Wiley Baby’s ultra-sensitive bubble bath. Everything is chosen by hand, and decisions are guided by the quality and uniqueness of each product. This is one of two sites not just in the city but Trafford specifically, with the other close to Altrincham Market. The difference is that in Sale there’s a bigger focus on the children’s range, which features some truly irresistible gifts for new parents, and their little ones.
