“We’ve always been passionate about food and wanted to focus on being able to eat quality food on the go. Working in Manchester we always struggled to find fresh sandwiches that got us excited for lunch break and this is why we opened Rack Arndale Market, a sandwich shop that takes some classics and gives them a creative twist as well as some of our own creations.” Just like their menu, the team at Rack remove the superlatives and get straight to the point — serving the good people of our fair city incredible sandwiches, cakes, coffees, and cold drinks.

The Rack we know today stems from humble roots. Starting life as a trailer touring various food markets, festivals and outdoor events around the region, it now operates three prime locations, one of which is inside the Arndale Market’s celebrated foodie paradise. A spot that is one of the finest options for lunch when going hungry in the city centre. A bastion of independent eating, in and among the copious stalls filling the air with tempting flavours you’ll find a true haven for lovers of sourdough and more, offering a simple menu focused on high quality ingredients.

Sandwiches at Rack Arndale Market include Chicken. — with roast bird, streaky bacon, salad, lemon, herb and crisps — BBBLT., which goes triple on the pig meat (streaky, back and baconnaise), and the Bhaji., where handmade onion bhaji, lettuce, lime pickle, mango chutney, and Bombay mix meet. All three are served on white bloomer, but other fillings come on focaccia bread if that’s more your thing. Rack also shines at grilled cheese, and has some interesting takes on this classic comfort food. Cacio E Pepe. — three cheeses with pecorino, crispy spaghetti and cracked black pepper — and the Beef Birria (Mexican brisket, onions, coriander, and dipping broth) are two perennially popular choices. As is the Korean Pulled Pork and Reuben (including vegetarian and vegan variations). Elsewhere, you’ll also find Mini Hash Browns with a variety of toppings, and Cinnamon Buns, Cronuts, Biscoff and Morello Cherry Blondies catering to the sweet teeth out there.
