The journey of Sud Pasta Ancoats, a Southern Italian pasta maestro, began in Altrincham before expanding to Ancoats and recently, Sale. Doubts about a menu centred around pasta quickly dissipate upon trying their delicious offerings. Sud, formerly known as Sugo Pasta Kitchen, is universally loved, and one visit will make you a believer.

Their popular House Sugo, rightfully praised, consists of beef shin, pork shoulder, and nduja, simmered gently for eight hours and served over handmade orecchiette pasta ‘ears’. Seafood lovers won’t be disappointed by Sud Pasta Ancoats’ Scoglio, a richly flavoured fish stew with seasonal seafood (perhaps mussels or crab, or even both) enhancing its robust depth. However, don’t miss out on their starters and seasonal specials. A recent Sicilian mackerel and sultana dish was an absolute delight. Vegetarian options may include smoky cruschi peppers from Basilicata or freshly shelled peas with ricotta and herbs. Do save some space for a scoop of local favourite, Ginger’s ice cream.
