Manchester-based sustainable fashion brand, Joanie has embodied bold retro prints and classic silhouettes across its collections since it began.

Recently, it announced a brand-new, exclusive collaboration with none other than the queen of extravagant vintage fashion herself, Dawn O’Porter due to be released at the end of the month.

The writer, TV presenter and director first found fame on the controversial 2007 show ‘Super Slim Me’ in which she tried to shrink down to the Hollywood size ‘zero’ by trying a number of diets and noughties trends, exposing the pressure put on women to lose weight.

Since then, her career has spanned documentary filmmaking, presenting and modelling, but she is now most famous for her thought-provoking novels that explore feminist themes and comedic elements of modern-day life.

Dawn is also known for being a lover of vintage, often sharing her obsession with her Instagram following. She is a self-confessed kaftan enthusiast, so it’s only natural that she’s managed to squeeze in a couple of these iconic pieces into her collaboration with Joanie clothing.

Like the majority of Joanie’s collections, Dawn’s garments have taken inspiration from the in-your-face prints of the 70s, with bright florals and kaftan-style silhouettes leading the way.

The collection is predominantly focused on dresses with vivid prints and colours, reminiscent of the psychedelic 70s era, creating incredible statement pieces for all occasions.

Taking to Instagram, Dawn said: “So excited to bring this to you. My first collection for Joanie Clothing. 70s shapes and big bold prints. 100% sustainable collection, all inspired by my favourite vintage pieces. CANNOT WAIT to see you in these!”

Joanie Clothing is a brand that’s committed to sustainability, focussing on slow fashion and retro-esque collections that use designs from local artists.

You won’t find any of its garments on the high-street, as it’s committed to limited run collections that minimise the chance of any products ending up in landfill. Its collaboration with Dawn O’Porter has been designed and made using highly sustainable fabrics and will only be available as a small collection.

Keep an eye out on Joanie’s social media channels for the official launch date soon!
