See anything you fancy?… Piilgrim are a 100% vegan skate clothing brand, based locally. They got their start out of a desire to feel more in touch with the clothes that we wear. Each piece Piilgrim produces is constructed as a small, single-run, limited edition garment, with a predominant focus on time-honoured tailoring.
Piilgrim’s Creative Direction, Mark Kendrick, has said: “I’m really interested in the idea of fashion as a form of social activism. You’re a walking billboard at the end of the today so what you put on your back matters. Fashion has got a really bad rep for unnecessary waste & fast fashion is a poisonous industry.”
“With Piilgrim I wanted to build beautiful products that last, often using elements of tailoring taken from old military jackets & utilitarian items where practicality is paramount. To take this efficient, workaday shape; then combine it with a eye-popping patterned lining, to me, is really exciting. I don’t get out much though.”
Using bio-degradable packaging for all items, everything is built to last a lifetime, in a bid to get away from fast fashion and all that treachery. It’s apparent that they believe production processes should always be cruelty-free and traded fairly; they’ve set out to make the difference that other companies lack in the retail world.
