Set up during the first lockdown, Manchester Fashion Movement (MFM) is the brainchild of two northern women, Alison and Camilla; sustainability advocated who wanted to build something they were passionate about during a time of shifting expectations and major adjustment. They were keen to create something which was positive and made sense – in a time when not a lot did.

MFM’s main aim is to enable communities in Greater Manchester to better understand the impact of the fashion industry and recognise the benefits of a more responsible approach towards consumerism; to make a difference to our collective future.

Through education in the community and blending fashion and storytelling into fashion performances, MFM provides an accessible platform building a culture of education and accountability. Their IRL events are full of camaraderie, opening up a space of meaningful conversations and offering people the freedom to express themselves through their clothing.

This Sunday 12th December, in the Den at The Refuge, Manchester Fashion Movement will be hosting a mini-department store with a range of bespoke local brands showcasing the joy of collaboration over competition; brands to believe in as we build a kinder, more inclusive society in which shopping ethically and supporting small business prevails.

The pop-up space will host clothing, accessories and homeware alongside surgery drop-ins where you can have your trainers up-cycled and denims repaired. Here’s who you can expect…
