Situated an easy and straight forward 35-45 minutes drive south of Manchester and through Macclesfield you’ll find Buxton Old Road, leading to a whole raft of walks, reservoirs and all important cafe / pub pit stops.
Tegg’s Nose has a £2 car park and a brilliant cafe – Tegg’s Nose Tea Room – serving everything from a weekly special filter coffee through to home made soup with sourdough and gluten free rose water polenta cake, perfect.
Starting from the car park there are various walks available, most of our series will concentrate on the under 2 hour routes over approx 2-3 miles, the terrain of course will vary.
Out of the car park entrance and left takes you up the main walking start for most of the routes, we opted to head up and into the Quarry area, down into Tegg’s Nose Reservoir and back around in a circular ending at the most important bit, the cafe.

Tegg’s Nose Walk 1 is really accessible, plenty of people had small children and at 2.5 miles it was just the right length, taking the hill into consideration, to end feeling like you’d achieved something and earned the coffee and cake.
