A new yoga studio is opening in Manchester on Monday 20 February. Yoga Manchester promises to make its classes “accessible for all” and owner Matt is urging people who don’t think yoga is for them to come and give it a try.
Owner of Yoga Manchester, ex-Hacienda DJ Matt Ryan has been travelling the world learning about and teaching yoga for over 20 years. Yoga teacher to the stars, Matt’s clients have included comedian Russell Brand as well as members of The Stone Roses and English Premier League footballers. He has owned yoga studios in London and Los Angeles and is now returning to Manchester to share his experience with his home city.
From his new studio Yoga Manchester on Duke Street just off Deansgate, Matt will teach the basics of yoga to people from complete newbie level upwards, helping people to build strength and flexibility. There will also be classes for those looking to learn more advanced yoga practices. Classes will be held mornings, lunchtimes and evenings.
From twisting his melon to seated twists, after leaving the late night and intense lifestyle of DJing at places like The Hacienda and Home Nightclub in the early 2000s, Matt did a complete swerve and headed to Mysore in India to practice and gain qualifications in ashtanga yoga.
Matt Ryan said: “Having travelled the world for 20 years teaching Ashtanga Yoga to people of all walks of life, I felt it only right to come back to where my yoga journey initially began. Returning to Manchester is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I can’t wait to teach Manc’s that yoga can be for everyone, it doesn’t have to be just for people looking to find themselves within but for anyone wanting to be fitter, more flexible and stronger in mind and body. Come and stretch out, you’ll definitely feel better for it, that I can guarantee.”
If all this has given you true faith in Matt’s yogi credentials, you can book classes via the Yoga Manchester website.
