Okay so it’s actually that magazine lot Time Out that have made the list, collated from ‘editors and experts’ – over 15,000 people including writers, industry experts and random blokes they met in the pub. What has transpired is a comprehensive list of the coolest places in the world right now.

Number one is Embajadores in Madrid, which is noted for its outstanding balance of nightlife, culture and food – the golden triforce it seems when it comes to places being described as ‘cool’.

A quick shifty down the list and you’ll find Embajadores followed by the likes of Nueva Villa de Aburrá in Medellin, Highland Park in LA and finally when you reach number 13 – Ancoats.

There’s no denying that Ancoats has seen some massive changes in the last few years, with so many openings in 2018 that the giant novelty ribbon-cutting scissors have started to go dull with use.

Timeout mention many reasons behind it’s high placing, with the inclusion of ‘artisanal bakeries’ and ‘gin joints’ adding to the plus points. A heads up goes to Ancoats Coffee Co, Elnecot and Hope Mill Theatre – all brilliant additions to the food, culture and lifestyle side of the neighbourhood.

I’d probably, certainly also include the likes of Pollen, Mana, Rudy’s, Viet Shack, Canto, TROVE, Seven Brothers and of course – RAD’s Caribbean Takeaway.

I’m totally certain that 2019 will also uncover a ruck of new gems for the area, as it continues to grow, expand and ultimately become ‘cooler’. If you want to check out the full list from Time Out – you can see it here.
