Wonderhouse Theatre Company returns to Manchester this month with Nick Payne’s award winning play Constellations.
Choice and destiny collide in this startlingly original play about the infinite possibilities of love (and the quantum multiverse). A man and a woman’s chance encounter sets off a singular chain of events where each path they might take shapes an entirely different future. Their sweeping and spellbinding romantic journey will defy the boundaries of the world we think we know and is set to captivate audiences at Manchester’s award winning Hope Mill theatre from the 20-25 February 2017.
The play returns to Manchester after a 5-star run in the West End and sell-out shows on Broadway, where it starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson.
For this new production, Wonderhouse are teaming up with director Laura Woodward who has just finished a West End run working on Duncan Macmillan’s Olivier Award winning People Places and Things.
The Manchester theatre scene is currently undergoing a renaissance with the opening of the £25 million arts centre Home alongside plans for a new £78 million venue, The Factory which will be the future home of the Manchester International Festival.
But with the Arts facing further government cuts around the country, David and Charlotte believe it’s vital that the city continues to nurture new and existing talent.
David said: “One of our passions in setting up Wonderhouse is to bring the joy of theatre to audiences who might not usually go to see a play. We want to make opportunities for people in the city to share their talents and create something special with us, whether that’s an experienced director like Lucia Cox or a writer who’s just starting out.”
Constellations is described in the Guardian as a love story that’s ‘Intelligent, innovative and powerful’.
