An audio visual collaboration between filmmaker Antony Barkworth-Knight and four of Manchester’s leading musicians
Counterpoint is a series of four new films by filmmaker Antony Barkworth-Knight. The films have been made in collaboration with Manchester based musicians Graham Massey, John Ellis, Rioghnach Connolly and Olivia Moore.
In each piece the musicians were interviewed and asked to improvise music in response to an original piece of animation by Antony Barkworth-Knight. The results are tapestries of video, animation, interview, music and sound that create an intimate insight into the artists involved.
The films will be shown on rotation throughout Manchester Jazz Festival in the new mjf Film hut on Albert Square where admission is free. The films will also be screened through the ‘Jazz on Film’ season at HOME from 17th – 31 July.
