It’s going to be here in Manchester on the 16th and 17th of February, so there’s plenty of time to get hold of your tickets for you and your mates to enjoy this un-brie-lievable, yearly event.
The festival, which will be hosted at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre, will feature artisan traders from across the country, who will be selling everything from traditional style cheeses to mozzarella sticks, halloumi fries and mouth-watering mac ‘n’ cheese. Honestly, I’m salivating even writing this.
However, the doesn’t end there, because cheese isn’t all that’s on the menu. If you’re passionate about cheese but don’t know how to incorporate it more into your meals, you’ll be pleased to learn that the festival also gives food demonstrations, designed to open peoples’ eyes to transforming powers of cheese in recipes.
I for one would benefit from this, because I don’t really think adding a mountain of grated cheddar onto pasta constitutes as cooking. Or does it? Either way, you’ll get more from your ticket than just entry. And while we’re on the topic of added benefits, the event also hosts live bands and singers, who will serenade all you cheese-addicts throughout the day.
But more importantly, what would a cheese festival be without a beer of a fine glass of red wine to wash it down with? I’m not exactly a cheese and wine expert, but even I know that the two are better coupled together than most relationships I’ve seen (soz), so of course, there are plenty of wines and craft ales available to transform your cheese-tasting into something magical.
Just envision it: you’re enjoying a romantic moment alone with a creamy, crisp cheese toastie, sipping a glass of exquisite Malbec whilst basking in the soft purr of relaxing live music- and NO ONE is judging you. If that isn’t the perfect love story, I don’t know what is.
If you camembert to miss this, tickets start from just £3 and include entry to the venue, free live entertainment and cookery classes. It is open from 10am-6pm, and you can buy your tickets in two-hour time slots to avoid crowds/to stop fights breaking out over cheese (we’ve all been there).
However, early-bird tickets are available if you want first pick of what’s on offer. Whilst free food won’t be provided, street food stalls will be selling a variety of delicious cheese-based dishes that will be priced around the £5 mark – but naturally, cheese samples are free when you’re shopping for the good stuff.
So whether you’re a cheese connoisseur or just a self-proclaimed fatty who puts it on EVERYTHING (me), CheeseFest is the one festival you shouldn’t miss out on. It’s doesn’t get feta than this!
