A special co-headlining show between two of Leeds’ finest, with the grand melodrama of Post War Glamour Girls post-punk meeting the glinting synth-pop of past favourites Department M.
Post War Glamour Girls have built up a huge reputation over the past year following the release of their acclaimed and outstanding album Pink Fur.
Musically reminiscent of The Pixies and Wild Beasts with vocals evocative of Nick Cave crossed with Mark E. Smith (if they both hailed from Leeds), the four-piece have spent the past two years building up an impressive body of work, showcasing an innate knack for creating intricately layered and intelligent compositions with an almost theatrical Arcade Fire-like build up.
Formerly the solo project of front man Owen Brinley, Department M has now grown into a full live band in an effort to capture the intricacies of their recent spree of releases, including The Second Prize on Too Pure Singles Club and a debut mini-album on Fierce Panda and Rallye Japan in the past two years. With Tommy Davidson (These Monsters) on live drums, there’s a ballast to the kaleidoscopic world of synth-based structures that have so far informed Department M’s sound — best encapsulated on new 7″ Bleak Technique.
