Manchester is full of some of the best independent food and drink outlets the UK has to offer. Across the city, we’ve got everything from intimate sushi restaurants to exclusively vegan pizzerias and there’s somewhere new popping up almost every week.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get your business off the ground, and if you’re looking to start, or are already part of the bustling food scene, then the GC Business Growth Hub’s programme might just be for you!

Recipe4Success is open to start-ups, entrepreneurs and small businesses who are in their first three years of trading and based in Greater Manchester.

The Hub’s ‘Recipe4Success’ scheme has supported hundreds of small food and drink operators to develop and raise their profile since it started in 2015. Previous programmes have helped Greater Manchester firms get their products stocked in department stores including Selfridges, and in specialist and independent retailers.

The three-month scheme consists of nine workshops and networking events designed to help businesses overcome barriers and succeed. It’s also fully funded, meaning that businesses who are accepted onto the scheme will not have to pay any costs.

Businesses will be supported by a team of experts who will help with how to approach and pitch to buyers, digital marketing, demystifying regulatory guidelines and branding. At the end of the programme, participants get the chance to pitch their product to a panel of buyers. You will also get the opportunity to practice your pitch and present to a number of industry experts (as well as your peers) for a critique, prior to submitting it to the buyers.

Whether you’re a brewery, bakery, soft drink, ice cream or other producer, or a restaurant, deli or cafe looking to commercialise a great product – the Recipe4Success programme has something for you.

Previous programme graduates include Didsbury Gin, Zymurgorium, Loaf Manchester, Flour & Soul Bakery and Four Sisters distillery.
