Hungamaa, brand-new Chorlton restaurant, is an authentic Indian eatery on Barlow Moor Road with a menu spanning Tandoori specials, charcoaled meats and even a list of Indo Chinese fusion meals that sets the restaurant apart from others.
Something that the entire of Manchester seems to look forward to is any announcement of a brand new street food style Indian restaurant, after all, we are the city that’s rightfully claimed the beloved ‘rice and three’. And Hungamaa is a fragrant breath of fresh air set up by good friends Amey and Vipul.
The pair have always had a passion for cooking and good food, carrying heritage recipes and family favourites over with them to their new venture.
The restaurant’s menu is extensive, the kind of food that’s made for sharing and sampling something completely new. For example, Hungamaa Chorlton offers dishes such as Pani Puri, which comes filled with potatoes, chickpeas and a shot of tamarind, alongside classic Onion Bhajis and Samosas.
Diving into the Indo Chinese menu, Hungamaa serves Chicken Fried Rice, Veg Hakka Noodles, Egg Fried Rice and Prawn Fried Rice all with an Indian twist. This is something that’s uniquely Hungamaa and has already been a huge hit with its loyal diners.
Alongside this, Hungamaa also has a huge menu of Tandoori meats including; Chicken, Seekh Kebabs, Paneer Tikka and Salmon Tikka that is all made traditionally in the restaurant’s mammoth Tandoor oven.
If you’re a vegetarian you should definitely check this place out, too, with an extensive list of options on the menu that don’t feel like an afterthought. They’ve even got tandoori “chicken” skewers made with soy protein and spiced in the exact way they would the meats before being cooked in a tandoor.
Hungamaa is open now Monday – Thursday 4pm – 9pm, Friday – Sunday 12pm – 11.30pm.
