Keen to celebrate this great city and its heritage, Albatross & Arnold are hosting Downtown this Easter which hopes to celebrate some other stuff that has come out of the city – namely Jazz & Cocktails.
Okay so Jazz isn’t entirely from New York, and cocktails have been knocking around ever since a caveman decided to mix some manky fruit juice with some mammoth milk, but you can’t deny that the Big Apple excels at both.
For example, when it comes to the cocktails, many of the world’s most famous ones were either invented in New York or they got something that tasted “meh” and made it work. The Martini, the Manhattan (obviously) the Cosmopolitan and the Pickleback all hail from the bars and brainboxes of the city – so well done with that you lot.
Next Thursday 29th March then, A&A will be going all out and offering a ‘Taste of New York’ – 4 Cocktails inspired by the Big Apple for £20, as well as putting a bit of live Jazz & Blues on in the form of Jeremy Sassoon and his piano.
Here’s the cocktails:
- Manhattan – Chivas Regal 12, Antica Formula. Old Fashioned Bitters
- Cosmopolitan – Abslout Cherry, Cointreau Blood Orange, Cranberry juice, lime
- New York Sour – Bulliet Bourbon, lemon, muscavado, topped with Lanya Merlot
- Breakfast Martini – Botantist, Chase Marmelade, Cointreau, lemon
Jeremy regularly headlines “The A-Trane” Jazz Club in Berlin, was the headline act at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club during the London 2012 Olympics and regularly hits the festival scene with his spectacular 17-piece Ray Charles Big Band.
Starting from half 6, Jeremy will get the evening off to a cracking start, while the cocktails ease you into the extended Easter weekend. There’s no work or school on Good Friday so you may as well start as you mean to go on.
