Taking place at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate, This is Manchester Awards celebrated the jewels of Manchester’s hospitality, fashion, entertainment, sports and business crowns at an exclusive ceremony last night.

In attendance were some of the city’s best restaurants, chefs and bars to find out whether or not they had scooped a prestigious accolade.

Winners across the evening included 2015 MasterChef champion Simon Wood, who scooped up the title for Leading Chef for his unmatched artistry at his fine dining restaurant WOOD on First Street.

The Leading Bar award went to popular alfresco destination, The Oast House, that’s known for its sprawling terrace and cosy Winter tipi. Picking up the Leading Newcomer in Hospitality Award for 2022 was Habas, a Middle-Eastern restaurant known for its monstrous mixed grill.

The opulent Stock Exchange Hotel, co-owned by Gary Neville, snapped up the award for Leading Hotel of the Year. Meanwhile Manchester Central was named Leading Event Venue of the Year – with the venue this weekend hosting the 15th edition of Manchester Art Fair.

Northern Quarter’s TNQ also picked up the award for Leading Smart Casual Dining for its sophisticated seasonal menu and formal yet welcoming interior.

Over 400 guests attended the prestigious ceremony, including a host of well-known Manchester celebrities such as soap stars Adam and Ryan Thomas. The event was hosted by entrepreneur Scott Thomas and TV personality Jenny Powell.

Alongside the business awards, each year the event honours a ‘Supernova’, which, for 2022, was given to serial entrepreneur Dr Nighat Awan OBE, CEO of Shere Khan Group. She was awarded for her constant charity work that specifically focuses on young people, women and disadvantaged groups.

Money raised from the evening was donated to HideOut Youth Zone Manchester, a space providing young people with opportunities to discover their passion and purpose.
