Greens Sale

Simon Rimmer’s renowned vegetarian restaurant, Greens will finally swing open its doors in Sale’s Stanley Square in July. A staple of the city’s vegetarian restaurant scene, it was first established in 1990 after Rimmer and his pal, Simon Connolly saw a little vegetarian cafe put up for sale in the fabled land of Lapwing Lane in West Didsbury. The brand-new Greens consists of a 60-cover restaurant, with a 60-cover bar and outdoor seating – something that is completely new for the brand. The restaurant will still be fully vegetarian, and will feature some amazing dishes including the Truffled Mushroom Wellington and the staple Red Lentil and Walnut Roast.
Smash & Dash Burgers

A brand-new concept from the award-winning pie-making team at Ate Days A Week, Smash & Dash Burgers has taken over the kitchens full time at 7 Sins in the Northern Quarter. Their new menu offers up smashed burgers, chicken wings, pizza slices, hot dogs and loaded fried – pretty much all you need when getting hammered on cocktails.
The Flat Baker

Set up by self-taught baker Matt and his partner Debs in their Ancoats flat, this artisan bakery has grown from a tiny kitchen to a wholesale supplier in the short time it has existed, and, now, they’re getting ready to open their very own customer-facing space in Ancoats. You can expect everything from Brazilian loaded sandwiches, alongside homemade Pastel De Natas, Cruffins, Boozy Brioche, Croissants, Sourdough Bread and the Flat Baker’s own range of juices, smoothies and coffee selections.
MOST Bakery

A new addition to Altrincham’s burgeoning foodie scene, MOST Bakery is an independent, family-run business that finally opened its doors to the public last week. Set up by teacher turned baker Matt Townley, whose previous ventures include the Hale bread delivery service and baking school, One Mile Bakery, MOST will be an extension of his bread delivery business which boomed during lockdown. Alongside its classes and workshops, MOST will produce eight different types of slow-fermented bread, as well as croissants, cruffins, a selection of cakes and tarts, brownies, cookies and a range of freshly made choux pastries. There’ll also be coffee and a cosy environment for dining in.

An innovative next-generation cultural destination with live music, club nights, members’ lounge, a 4am 7-days-a-week bar and restaurant, and digital platform. From the team behind two of London’s most prolific music establishments; The Pickle Factory and Oval Space. The Beeswing

Another addition to the burgeoning neighbourhood over at KAMPUS, Beeswing is a collaboration between wine expert, Anna Tutton (the Founder of wine bar Vin-yard, previously at Hatch) and Joe Maddock (of West Didsbury favourite Pinchos tapas bar fame) who’ve been working together on pop-up supper clubs. The Beeswing will serve up an exquisite wine selection alongside a wide variety of delicious pinchos and small plates. The friendly hangout for lovers of wine and great food is situated on the first floor above Nell’s, it’ll be a great spot for a sun-trapped drink this summer, overlooking the lush gardens and canalside.
PANC & Yum Yum

From their ghost kitchen in Ardwick to now opening up in the former Salt & Pepper unit in the Arndale Market, Panc is going to make a big splash when they launch this month. They’ll be bringing their brightly coloured plant-based burgers, hot dogs, desserts and loaded fries. Also launching is their sister dessert restaurant called ‘Yum Yum’ next door to PANC and serving a menu of delightful vegan desserts.
Municipal Bar
Tuesday 12th July
Opening up on Deansgate (opposite Dimitris) on Tuesday 12th July, Municipal Bar is billed as a “contemporary bar offering chilled elegance.” They’re proud to be working with some of the city’s leading independent brewers when it comes to their beers, and also promise cutting-edge cocktails. Throughout the day it’ll be a cafe spot serving award-winning coffee from Two Brothers, before turning into a bar in the evenings. There’s also the promise of live music every Saturday.
Karen’s Diner

An immersive dining experience is finally coming to Manchester this month, and you’ve probably heard of this one before. Karen’s is a diner like no other – with turbulent service, singing waiters and regular guest appearances from the manager – the biggest Karen of them all apparently. They’ll be serving up burgers, fries, shakes and cocktails and if you’re a fan of complaining – this will probably be right up your street.
Maray

Founded in 2014 by James Bates, Tom White and Dom Jones, Maray currently has three sites in Liverpool. The soon to be open Manchester site will be the fourth, the largest, and the first one outside its hometown. The concept was originally inspired by the owners’ experiences in the Le Marais district of Paris – a vibrant arrondissement famed as a culinary melting pot of Middle Eastern flavours and stand-out cocktail bars. You’ll soon be able to get your hands on that Disco Cauliflower when they open their new site at Bruntwood Works’ Union building on Brazennose Street, right next to ‘The Hidden Gem’ church and a stone’s throw from Albert Square and Deansgate.
Dokes Prestwich

From the creative brains behind Ancoats’ Elnecot comes ‘Anglo Saxon’ pizzas from Dokes, who will be opening up in early July in their very own restaurant space in Prestwich. Dokes has actually been operating from SOCIETY food hall since early last year, so this is a major step up for them. One which I’m sure they’ll relish and absolutely smash it out there in the ‘burbs – with pizzas as good as this – there’s no way they can fail.
The Spinn Off
Now Open
Very recently opening up on the Underbank in Stockport, The Spinn Off is a new bar and restaurant venture from Adam Thomas and Scott Graham, who launched The Spinn back in 2019 in Gatley. Since then they’ve run successful pop-ups at Box On The Docks at MediaCity and an Oh My Glaze! spot at the Trafford Centre. The Spinn Off has been serving just drinks on the weekends through June, but July will see them open up their kitchen with a full food menu.
Oi Dumplings

Set up by Maisie and her partner Mollie, Oi Dumplings has spent a couple of years popping up at various foodie markets across the North West and hosting workshops dedicated to perfecting the dumpling craft. Now, the duo have announced the opening of their brand-new permanent restaurant, which will be located in the heart of the quaint town of Marsden. The menu will have a big focus on dumplings, but Oi have also included other traditional Vietnamese dishes on the menu, alongside a list of famous Vietnamese coffees.
Moda Prestwich

Now open in Prestwich Village, MODA is a relaxed, family-run venue that serves up breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, quality coffee, teas, cakes and bakes. There’s also a dedicated evening menu available after 5pm. The name comes from combination of the MOther and DAughter team who are running this exciting new addition to the thriving Prestwich food and drink scene.
Sakku Samba

Taking over the too-long empty Artisan unit on Spinningfields, this new restaurant concept is set to be launched by restauranteur Zack Isaak, who’s bringing two of his most popular brands into one. So we’re set to get a Brazilian-Japanese fusion restaurant, and it’s likely that it’s going to offer rodizio-style eating – essentially ‘all you can eat’ – alongside unlimited sushi. It’ll be split across the unit’s two floors with a cocktail bar on the ground floor and space for 300 diners in the upstairs restaurant.
