Taking over the old Deco Records on Egerton Crescent in Withington, Wilderness aims to offer a one-stop shop for all things vinyl – as well as a fully stocked cafe serving up some tasty toasties, coffee, tea, cakes, craft beers and plenty more.
There will be three main categories of vinyl on offer; new releases; re-releases of classics; and carefully curated second-hand vinyls, such as Balearic, yacht rock and Japanese and French imports, with a strong focus on supporting and showcasing local labels such as Finders Keepers and Be With.
A team of dedicated staff will be on hand to serve up a range of food and drinks as well as provide plenty of advice on the range of vinyl on offer. A selection of staff picks on the Wilderness social channels will highlight some of the often rare records on offer each week.
The team behind Wilderness Record Store includes local Withington resident, the infamous Lyndon Higginson, who has venues in Manchester such as Science & Industry, Crazy Pedro’s and Junk Yard Golf Club, alongside Dan Morris, formerly of Trof and ex Ops Director at Cottonopolis and Bart Murphy and Mat Lake, from Junk Yard Golf Club.
From June 2019 the venue will double in size, taking space from next door, and opening a year-round garden terrace and launching an events programme that will include Q&A’s with artists and DJs, film screenings, and creative workshops.
