After much demand for a gritty book club in the city centre, Feel Good Club has finally answered the prayers, announcing a monthly event in collaboration with Tib Street’s Queer Lit

Taking place on the last Wednesday of every month, the book club is an accessible celebration of queer literature. It will cement itself back into the community by providing an affordable club, as all Feel Good Book Club titles will be sold at cost price for that month, meaning that Queer Lit will bring you some of the latest hardback titles at an affordable price point.

Starting off with the Julia Armfield classic, Our Wives Under the Sea, groups will get the chance to discuss the novel at the monthly event. There’ll also be questions and readings throughout the evening, allowing attendees to delve deeper into the work of each individual author.

The novel is a story of falling in love, loss, grief and what life there is in the deep, deep sea. Named as book to look out for in 2022 by The Guardiani-DGood HousekeepingStylist and DAZED, Our Wives Under the Sea is a “strange, unnerving novel that wrongfoots you at every turn and invites you to think again about loss, absence, and transformation.”

Opening up on Tib Street during Pride Weekend in 2021, Queer Lit is the city’s first dedicated gay bookshop and it’s absolutely fantastic.

The journey to opening up the bookstore was a rollercoaster for owner Matthew Cornford, after he successfully ran an online queer bookshop during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now home to over 1700 LGBTQ+ titles, you’ll find famous authors alongside rare books and children’s novels – with everything handily categorised and arranged for ultimate ease.

The mental health and wellbeing focused coffee house, Feel Good Club started from seriously humble beginnings – a simple Instagram page. Since then, they’ve gained a huge following of fellow self love gurus and subsequently opened their Northern Quarter cafe, which serves as the perfect spot to enjoy a bit of brunch, lunch or a few cocktails on a summer’s eve.

The Feel Good Book Club takes place on the last Wednesday of every month at 7pm. You can register for free now via the link below.
