It is a remarkable social study of a culture that helped put Manchester on the worldwide music map.
Filmed over a period of two years, this documentary, by Madrid filmmaker Javi Senz, goes deep and digs into archive footage that has never been seen publicly, including for the first time Hacienda footage filmed by Anthony Wilson himself.
An excellent soundtrack and in-depth interviews help the viewer to understand how house music arrived in the city in the early 1980’s and takes them on a journey through the rich tapestry of its success and memorable stories.
The screening at Home Cinema on Saturday, May 26th, as part of the Doc’n Roll Film Festival, will be followed by a Q&A with Krysko, Dave Haslam, Javi Senz and Ruud Whiting (Metrodome / Levelz) with an after-party at Gorilla.
The after party at Gorilla is to showcase the current rave scene in Manchester, with ones to watch for the next 30 years, featuring a host of DJs and producers; Krysko & Greg Lord (WHP), Blasha & Allatt (Meat Free), Bad Fun, Strange Riddims & Sno (Banana Hill) .
This will be a free party from 11pm-4am with a suggested £5 on the door as a donation for local charity, Thirty Pound Gentleman, who delivers music production masterclasses for young aspiring music producers in the City. Click here to bag yourself a free ticket.
The timeline begins pre-Hacienda and features contributions from each of the decades highly respected DJs, producers, promoters and social commentators including; Krysko, Colin Curtis, Mike Pickering, Greg Wilson, Luke Unabomber, Carl Craig, Andrew Weatherall, DJ Heidi, Marshall Jefferson, Laurent Garnier, and many more of the scenes most prolific names.
