Sustainable fashion non-profit Stitched Up is bringing an interactive experience to the young people of Rusholme across October half term. ‘Walk In Wardrobe’ will lift the lid on the impact of fast fashion and engage visitors in joining the call for change.
The project has been funded by Hubbub’s In Our Nature programme which is supporting residents and communities in Manchester to take positive action on the climate emergency.
Stepping inside the Walk in Wardrobe, a variety of interactive zones will allow visitors to discover the impacts of clothing on people and the planet, get inspired by local groups and campaigns and try out alternatives like repair, upcycling, styling and swapping for themselves.
Bryony Moore, Stitched Up Co-Director said: We hope that the Walk-in Wardrobe will inspire our visitors to take action on sustainable fashion in their communities. There are so many ways we can all create change locally – start a clothes swap or a mending meetup, organise a talk, or make changes at home that can lower your own impact, like washing clothes at lower temperatures.
The Walk in Wardrobe is here to show that whatever your skill set and interests, you can be part of creating positive change for the fashion industry.

The Walk In Wardrobe will be popping up at Birch Community Centre in Rusholme during October half term (26th and 27th October).
It is open to anyone to attend, although it is aimed at young people aged approximately 10+. It’s a free, drop-in event, no booking required, excpet for the Wardrobe Surgery (clothes repair and upcycling workshop) for which you do need to book a specific time slot, as places are limited.
